2026 Lightning Season - Board spots opening!

Dear Lansdowne Lightning Families,

As our summer season speeds along, we’re already looking ahead to next year — and we need your help to keep the Lightning strong!

Each summer, our swim team is powered not just by fast swimmers and dedicated coaches — but by incredible parent volunteers behind the scenes. As the 2025 season winds down, we’ll have a number of open board roles for 2026. This is your chance to step in, get involved, and help shape the future of our team!

No swim experience is required — just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves for a great cause (and great fun).

📝 Secretary: keeps our team running smoothly before and during the season.

  • Oversee and manage swim season registration through Swimtopia
  • Send out team-wide communications and announcements
  • Keep our Swimtopia site up-to-date with key information
  • Records meeting minutes and election results
  • Keep documentation current for board duties and responsibilities

Ideal for someone who enjoys project management, communication, and helping families stay informed.

🙋♀️🙋 Volunteer Chairs (2 positions): rockstars who coordinate our amazing volunteer crew and make sure every meet and event runs like clockwork.

  • Manage sign-up sheets on Swimtopia
  • Send reminders about unfilled roles and meet prep
  • Confirm volunteer attendance and make sure they know their roles
  • Print rosters and coordinate all day-of volunteer logistics
  • Step in to help fill last-minute volunteer gaps when needed
Perfect for a people-person who’s comfortable wrangling details and rallying the troops.

💻 Co-Computer Operator (2 positions, 1 filled): the behind-the-scenes tech hero of our meets! This role manages all things data during home meets and ensures accurate scoring and results.

  • Set up all home meets using ODSL templates and Swimtopia
  • Handle pre-meet logistics: event creation, seeding, relays, and heat sheets
  • Enter scratches, deck entries, and relay changes on meet day
  • Input event results and DQs during meets using timing sheets and DQ slips
  • Print ribbon labels and post final results for coaches, families, and opposing teams
  • Must complete ODSL training (offered each spring)
If you like computers, data, and details — this one’s for you.
Perk: You’ll know everyone’s times before anyone else does! (Yes, even the coaches.)

🌭 Head of Concessions: manage our concession stand at all home meets and time trials.

  • Purchase food, drinks, and supplies (we’ll provide past shopping lists)
  • Decide pricing and coordinate cash/change
  • Set up and staff the stand (with lots of volunteer support)
  • Oversee sales and operations during meets
  • Keep everything clean, stocked, and running smoothly
Great for someone who enjoys logistics, food, and being in the center of the action.

🎉 Social Events & End-of-Season Party Lead: Organize the fun that makes our swim team more than just a sport.

  • Coordinate the End-of-Season Banquet and other team social events (ice cream socials, spirit days, etc.)
  • Work closely with coaches and other board members to finalize logistics
  • Manage communication and promotion to families
  • Lead setup, decorations, and volunteer support at each event
  • Make sure our swimmers feel celebrated and connect
A perfect role for someone who loves bringing people together and making memories!
